Multifunctional HF transceiver, 10Watts up to 150Watts

The all new Barrett PRC-4090 manpack transceiver combines Software-Defined Radio technology with an intuitive full color touchscreen user interface.  The PRC-4090 weighs only 2.95kg, along with its small physical size makes it one of the smallest full featured HF Manpacks on the market.  Many options are available, including MIL-STD modems, 2G/3G ALE, Digital Voice, Advanced Frequency Hopping, IP networking and more.  The Barrett PRC-4090 can be configured as a low power Tactical Manpack,  High Power Tactical Mobile, or as a 150watt Tactical Base package. 


Power up to 150 watts

The Barrett 4050 HF SDR transceiver is the centrepiece of the Barrett range of HF communications equipment. It combines Software-Defi ned Radio technology with the intuitive “ease of use” that has become synonymous with the Barrett name. When teamed with other Barrett HF products, the versatile Barrett 4050 transceiver provides secure email, data transfer and telephone connectivity within a HF network and outwards to international telephone and internet networks.

The Barrett 4050 transceiver can be controlled from all major mobile and desktop platforms. The Barrett 4050 remote control app supports iOS, Android and Windows devices for wireless voice and radio control.


Removable control head

The key feature of the 4050 is its intuitive touch screen operator interface, which resembles a smart phone. The touchscreen is mounted in a 350gram detachable wireless remote control head which also includes the handset connection and enables the radio to be operated remotely. The operator interface is multi-language, which can be easily changed. Installed standard language libraries include English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic and Chinese but others can be added as required.


150 Rapid Deployment Package

With a built in Battery, this package is designed to run without external power for up to 8 hours (depending on duty cycle).  150 Watts when connected to AC power, 125 watts when running on the internal batter.  Options include a solar charger, internal Vocoder/Modems, IP remote control and more.  When you need to deploy in a hurry, this HF Transceiver package will not let you down.


Desktop remote console

The 4050 HF SDR transceiver desk console controls a connected 4050 HF SDR either via direct connection as a primary or secondary control head or via IP network (Ethernet or WiFi). It has a built in speaker, detachable boom microphone and supports standard headsets and PTT (push to talk) foot switches.

BARRETT 4075, 500 WATT

500 Watt Base Station

The 4075 500 watt linear power amplifier has a unique advanced liquid cooled solid state design which is believed to be the first of its kind. This reduces the requirement for forced air cooling, resulting in lower power consumption and a quieter working environment. Where an amplifier has a less than optimum efficient cooling system it can lead to component failure, but this innovative design, which uses a water propylene glycol mixture, allows the transmitter to run continuously at optimum temperatures and therefore more efficiently, resulting in greater reliability and extended service life.


1KW Base Station

The Barrett 4075 1000 watt amplifier natively supports the Barrett 4050 Transceiver/Exciter which when coupled requires no further tuning or adjustment. A flexible I/O interface and analogue ALC feedback provide the transceiver/exciter full control over final output power. Intelligent electronic controls protect the 4075 from input and output overload while providing a sophisticated early warning and a diagnostic interface for system monitoring and event logging. Customisable auxiliary ports are also available for enhanced system control.

​Royal Communications International, Inc. will continue to provide support and repair services for the Micom 3 series radios for the duration of remaining warranty. Repairs for Micom transceivers that are no longer covered under warranty will be available as long as commercially viable. With regard to Micom-2 series transceivers, unfortunately, we are unable to continue providing repair services, due to a lack of available spares and parts.

​The Barrett 4000 series transceivers are inter-operable with Micom transceivers, certified by JITC to MIL-STD-181-141B and are NTIA compliant.  The Barrett 4000 series transceivers include key differentiators from the Micom and competing transceivers in the market. Namely, built in IP networking, color touchscreen display, removable/remote-ready control head, USB port for easy upgrades and programming, and several other advanced features. Barrett Communications Pty Ltd., was founded in Australia, and through growth and acquisition have had a presence in the United States for 40 years.

During the summer June-July 2017, pilot Brian Lloyd commenced his round-the-world flight to commemorate Amelia Earhart’s route eighty years ago in 1937. The two month flight followed Earhart’s historic equatorial route. Royal Communications International, Inc. was honored to support Brian throughout his expedition.


“I chose the Micom3T transceiver for my historic recreation of Amelia Earhart's flight due to its robust construction and outstanding reputation for reliability in a harsh environment. While the control head is mounted in the cabin and lives in a more benign environment, the receiver/transmitter unit resides in an unheated and unpressurized avionics bay where the temperature may vary from +45C to -20C and the altitude may top 24,000 feet. In spite of this harsh environment the Micom3T performed well. 


But even the best equipment can fail and I did experience an intermittent failure of the receiver/transmitter unit. A single call to Royal Communications had a replacement unit on its way to me on the other side of the world in a day. Clearly the emphasis was to get my communications back up and running reliably as quickly as possible. I am extremely pleased with the level of support I received. The replacement unit operated and continues to operate reliably.
